The University of Bedfordshire, School of Healthcare Practice is seeking to appoint an external examiner to the MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Apprenticeship). This part-time course extends over a period of 2-3 academic years. The course is designed for all healthcare practitioners, whatever their field of practice, who wish to undertake a development programme in advanced clinical practice to enhance their career prospects. The course addresses the four domains of advanced clinical practice: advanced clinical skills, leadership, research and education. These are explored within the context of the students’ current sphere of practice to assist them to work as part of the wider health and social care team and across traditional professional boundaries in health and social care.

We are keen to recruit someone who has either expertise in Advanced Clinical Practice or experience of delivering such a course. Whilst external examiner experience is desirable, we also welcome expressions of interest from individuals new to this role. The successful candidate will be offered an induction programme and will be supported throughout the duration of their tenure. You will be asked to attend approximately 3 academic boards per year. The specific remit includes review of units at academic levels 7 including the dissertation unit contributing to the above award.

The term of office for the successful candidate will be for a period of 4 years from October 2019. Please note that all External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University’s External Examiner Committee.
