External Examiner – MSc Advanced Clinical Practice

Opening Date:
8 Jul 2019
Closing Date:
31 Aug 2019
Salary Range:

The School of Healthcare is seeking to appoint an external examiner for the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice and its partner programme the Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Assessment. The MSc Advanced Clinical Practice will be offered as an apprenticeship from 2020. These popular multi-disciplinary programmes attract students from a wide range of clinical backgrounds. The successful applicant will be expected to examine a range of clinical and non-clinical modules associated with the programmes.

Applicants should ideally have experience of delivering and or supporting Advanced Clinical Practice programmes and would normally hold a higher degree at Masters level or above. Previous experience of acting in the role of external examiner is desirable.

All external examiners are required to attend the School Progression and Award Board meetings for the programmes (at least one per year) and be available for consultation on assessment and curriculum issues. The School uses GradeMark to mark most assignments and for these the external examiner will be required to view students’ work and markers’ comments on-line.

The appointment is for one year in the first instance with the expectation of extending for a further 3 year term and is to commence from the 2019-2020 academic session. All appointments are subject to approval by the Faculty Taught Student Education Committee. The School holds an annual induction event for new external examiners to familiarise them with the University of Leeds’ assessment process and to enable them to meet the programme team.

For an informal discussion or for further information regarding the programme please contact Ian Goulden, Programme Leader (contact details below).

Anyone wishing to be considered is invited to submit an expression of interest and detailed Curriculum Vitae outlining their teaching, research, publication and where applicable, external examining experience to:
