The Faculty of Health Studies is looking for a dedicated individual to undertake the role of external examiner for our new MPhysio in Sport and Exercise Medicine programme starting in September 2017. This newly approved programme is designed for students wishing to develop knowledge and skills specifically relevant to sport and exercise settings, as well as more traditional physiotherapy environments.
The programme currently aims to recruit around 40 students annually. Some teaching across all 4 years is shared with BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy which has its own External Examiner.
Role & Responsibilities:
Confirming the comparability of standards of student performance at UoB with those of similar modules at other UK HEI’s; confirming that the assessment process in its entirety is sound, and has been fairly conducted with full regard to justice to students; reporting and advising on the above by means of approving coursework and examination papers and providing an annual report to the University.
The appointee will be required to moderate a sample of work at levels 4, 5, 6 and 7 and an opportunity to review practice based learning will also be provided. You will be required to produce an annual report and attend Boards of Examiners as appropriate.
You should have appropriate expertise/experience in a sport exercise/ physiotherapy area, be able to undertake a role in the assurance of academic standards in Higher Education and should be aware of modern developments in the design and delivery of the flexible curriculum.
You should not hold more than one other UK Higher Education External Examiner post at the start of the contract and be qualified to at least the level of the programme to be examined. You must also be a HCPC registered physiotherapist.
