External examiner required- Pre-registration BN/BN (Hons) programme (Mental Health). To commence September 2015 for a four year tenure.
We are seeking to appoint one external examiner to our new BN/BN (Hons) programme ( Proposed re-approval June 2015 and implemented in September 2015). In addition the appointee will review assessments from our existing BN/BN (Hons) programme which will run until September 2015.
We are aiming to appoint individuals who have may have previous external examining experience but this is not a requirement. The pre-registration nursing programme will undergo revalidation in June 2015. The programme will consist of modules which are generic and field specific. As the mental health external examiner, the post holder would be responsible for reviewing the work of pre-registration mental health students in both the generic and field specific modules. There are five theory modules in total within each stage. As an external examiner you will be requested to review a sample of stage 1 assessments (both theory and practice) on the days when attending the main assessment board i.e. these items will not be sent to you for review. Stage 2 and 3 assessments are submitted by students at particular points in the academic session, mainly January with a smaller volume being submitted around May and second submissions coming in the second week of August. The programme utilises an electronic system for assessment feedback- Grademark. The external examiner would be expected to moderate a sample of assessments from the relevant modules as well as provide an external examiner report for each of the modules reviewed. In addition attendance at assessment boards and the provision of an external examiner annual report would be required.
