Staffordshire University is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for a range of modules that form part of our mental health provision within the Faculty of Health Sciences. The Faculty of Health Sciences delivers high quality accessible higher education specialising in health, education and nursing and midwifery courses throughout the region, contributing to the provision of excellent primary and secondary health care in Staffordshire and Shropshire.
We require someone with a professional qualification in mental health nursing, who is currently registered with the NMC. The candidate should have relevant academic experience in mental health nursing education, and will ideally have prior experience as an external examiner.
The appointment will be for 4 years from 1st January 2017; the candidate will be required to:
- Cover a range of modules and awards, to include our Emotional Resilience award (three modules); our Advanced University Diploma in Enhanced Physical Healthcare Skills for Mental Health Nurses (one module); our Dementia Care Certificate (three modules); and our Primary Care Diploma in Mental Health (three modules).
- Review a range of coursework such as written scripts/portfolios, clinical assessment documentation, attendance to observe viva voce examinations and/or clinical examinations.
- Make visits at least annually to students engaged in clinical practice placements, where applicable.
- Submit external examiner reports and attend Subject Assessment Boards and Award Boards as required.
