We are looking for an experienced social work academic with a higher level degree and a good understanding of professional learning and teaching at Masters level to take on the role as the second in our team of two External Examiners attached to the Masters in Social Work programme based at CCCU. The MA Social Work is a pre-registration programme which takes place over two years for full time students. The programme has been approved previously by The College of Social Work and is currently verified by the HCPC.
We have one intake in September and normally recruit around 40 students per year with variable additional numbers (currently about 10) participating over a longer period on our part-time route. The role involves reading samples of work from modules across the programme (in conjunction with the other EE), completion of an External Examiner’s report and attendance at approximately 4 Exam Boards per academic year.
We require someone with a professional qualification in social work who is currently registered with the HCPC. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable academic experience in social work education, preferably at Masters level, and a career profile that involves experience as a subject or programme manager in the field of professional social work. Evidence of research or publication in relevant areas will be very welcome, as will previous experience of external examining.
It is hoped that the selected candidate will be in a position to start undertaking duties as soon as all the formalities have been completed. For an informal discussion, please contact the MASW Programme Director, Cheryl Yardley (email@example.com) or the MASW Deputy Programme Director, Georgina Koubel at firstname.lastname@example.org or via 01227 767700.
A formal expression of interest letter and CV should be sent to Eleni Hatzidimitriadou, Head of the School of Public Health, Midwifery and Social Work at CCCU , North Holmes Road, Canterbury CT1 7QU
