The Department of Health Studies at University Campus Suffolk is seeking to appoint an External Examiner to two BSc (Hons) Midwifery programmes: a three-year and a 78-week shortened programme. Intake numbers for the 2 programmes are 18 and 6 respectively, with one intake for both programmes in February. Assessment Boards’ dates are available in advance, with 2 main assessment boards and 2 completion boards per year.
External Examiners are expected to oversee the quality of modules (theory and practice), programmes, attend Assessment Boards and meet with students and Sign-Off Mentors to the programmes. The majority of theoretical assessment is conducted on-line. You will be expected to produce a module report for each module reviewed and complete an annual report that contributes to the Risk-based Monitoring and Enhancement process.
Applicants will be required to have:
• Current NMC registration as a Midwife with a recordable teaching qualification.
• Current employment within a UK AEI with no formal links with UCS in the last five years.
• Evidence of internal examining experience.
• Previous external examining experience is desirable but not essential.
All new examiners to the University will be expected to attend an induction event for External Examiners. Tenure of appointment is usually four years.
Interested individuals are welcome to contact Heather Passmore, Lead Midwife for Education, Senior Lecturer, at h.passmore.@ucs.ac.uk or telephone 01473 338641 for further information.
