The Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Health is seeking to appoint a new External Examiner for modules on the following programmes:

  • Pre-registration BSc (Hons) Nursing Science/Registered Nurse (Child)
  • Pre-registration BSc (Hons) Nursing Science/Registered Nurse (Child) Degree Apprenticeship.
  • Pre-registration MSc (Hons) Nursing Science/Registered Nurse (Child).
  • Return to Practice (Children’s Nursing)

This covers the following Level 5, 6 & 7 modules:

  • CN0512 Perspectives of Complex Care in Children’s and Young People’s Nursing
  • CN0514 Perspectives of Complex Care in Children’s and Young People’s Nursing (Degree Apprenticeship – Children’s Nursing)
  • NS0524 Practice Module 2: Developing Shared Decision Making (Cross Field Practice Module: Adult, Child, Mental Health & Learning Disability Nursing)
  • AC6735 Return to Practice (Children’s Nursing)
  • NS0621 Practice Module 3: Leadership Quality & Teamwork (Cross Field Practice Module: Adult, Child, Mental Health & Learning Disability Nursing)
  • CN0704 Applied Life Science for Children & Young People’s Nursing
  • CN0706 Assessing and Planning for Complex On-going Needs in Children & Young People’s Nursing

These are recently NMC approved programmes and the external examiner will be responsible for contributing to the quality assurance of these programmes. As subject external examiner you will be involved in the approval and moderation of assessments, completion of annual monitoring reports and will be required to attend examination boards.

Applicants should hold appropriate professional registration and academic qualifications. It is preferable to have previous experience of external examining although support and guidance can be provided for those new to this role. Full course details and documentation will be provided to the appointee on appointment.

The appointment will take effect from 1st August 2021 and will be for a four-year term.
