The University of Cumbria is seeking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified academic to act as External Examiner for our Pre-registration Child Nursing Programme with immediate effect.
The BSc (Hons) Child Nursing programme is well established is part of the Institute of Health at the University. Our programme is validated to the NMC Standards for Education (2018), which we began delivering from September 2020, thus providing a unique opportunity for the successful applicant to be involved from the start.
Applicant Requirements for consideration include being registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and have relevant experience of working in Children’s nursing practice settings as well as teaching on a pre-registration nursing programme.
The successful applicant will work alongside other external examiners across all four fields of nursing practice, to review a number of modules within the pre-registration Children’s nursing programme. This will include modules delivered at levels 4-6, with the potential of some of the modules being shared between fields. Ideally, the external examiner will have had experience of external examining, although first time candidates will be considered and offered support and induction on commencement.
The External Examiner will be expected to attend the module assessment boards, consider student work and contribute to the overall assessment process. We also like to provide opportunity for access to some of our placement facilities to meet with students
