The BSc Hons Nursing programme at QMU is supported by staff from the School of Health Sciences. QMU has a large multi-professional portfolio of programmes that incorporates undergraduate and postgraduate provision of learning and teaching opportunities from Certificate to Doctorate level within the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework (SCQF).
We are seeking an External Examiner for the BSc Hons Nursing at SCQF levels 7-10.
Modules include skills and practice learning, interprofessional education, preparation for clinical leadership, evidence based healthcare governance, nursing the deteriorating patient, rehabilitation and long term issues and the honours dissertation project.
A range of student centred, inclusive, facilitative and educational approaches expose students to a variety of learning, teaching and assessment methods. A particular emphasis is on the use of enquiry and problem based learning. Assessments include exams, written assignments, portfolios and Observed Structured Clinical Assessments (OSCAs). The programme is delivered in the context of a person centred, biopsychosocial approach, enabling students to consider human health and illness and the complexities of the evolving health and social care arena. Students are enabled to develop decision-making, clinical judgment and critical awareness.
External Examiners are expected to oversee the quality of modules, attend Assessment Boards and meet with students on the programme. You will be expected to produce an annual report that contributes to the Quality Enhancement process. Successful applicants would be appointed with effect from April 2017.
