External Examiner – Flexible and Work Based Learning provision

Birmingham City University, Faculty of Health, Education and Life Sciences is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for a range of modules within our Flexible and Work Based Learning provision. The remit involves assessment of theory of eight modules relating to Minor Injury, Neonatal Care and Targeted Therapy.

The successful applicant must hold a minimum academic qualification at Master’s degree level and must be able to demonstrate professional knowledge of UK Healthcare systems. Professional registration within the field of healthcare would also be desirable.

All course work is electronically submitted via Moodle and marked online; External Examiners will be required to use the online moderating process. User guides and support will be made available. The external examiner would be expected to attend a minimum of 2 examination boards per academic year. External Examiners are also asked to comment on new provision prior to approval.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential. The University provides an induction for all external examiners, mentorship will be provided for candidates new to external examination posts.

The appointment will run from October 2016 for a period of 4 years.
