The Faculty of Health, Education and Life Sciences is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the 20 credit level 7 research module that serves the various Health MScs offered at BCU and is offered three times a year. Students have to produce a 3,000 word research proposal for a primary piece of research or a 3,000 word protocol for a systematic review.
The successful applicant must hold a minimum academic qualification at Masters/PhD level. Professional registration within the field of healthcare would also be desirable. Familiarity with both quantitative and qualitative research is essential along with experience of primary research and secondary research i.e. systematic reviews.
All coursework is electronically submitted via Moodle and marked online; External Examiners will be required to use the online moderating process. User guides and support will be available. The External Examiner would be expected to attend a minimum of two Examination Boards per academic year, in addition to the annual programme quality event.
Previous experience is desirable but not essential. The University provides an induction for all External Examiners, mentorship will be provided for candidates new to external examining posts.
The appointment will run from October 2016 for a period of four years.
