We are seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the Doctorate in Clinical Practice, Masters in Research in Clinical Practice and Integrated PhD in Clinical & Health Research programmes.
The MRes is a programme designed for registered healthcare practitioners and health scientists who are interested in career progression with a focus on developing research in clinical practice. The programme represents the earliest element of the Clinical Academic Training Pathway and is supported by NIHR funding for nurses, AHPs and healthcare scientists.
The DClinP programme is designed for senior practitioners in leadership roles and comprises two components: a major piece of clinically focused research, leading to submission of a thesis and viva voce examination, alongside a programme of taught Level 7 and Level 8 modules.
The iPhD has a particular focus on developing highly skilled research-led innovators in health care. It is multi-professional, offers a tailored approach to studying for a PhD, and includes an ESRC-approved programme of research methods training. It is particularly suitable for students seeking a programme that builds from a firm foundation in essential research skills towards the development of high level methodological expertise and practical skills for applied research.
Applicants should hold appropriate academic qualifications and professional registration, preferably have previous experience of acting in the role as an External Examiner and have a background in research. We are committed to a philosophy of inter-professional learning and have an increasing number of international students.
Examination Boards take place once each term. For further information please contact Bronagh Walsh B.M.Walsh@soton.ac.uk (for the MRes programme) or Nikki Jarrett N.Jarrett@soton.ac.uk (for the DClinP/iPhD programmes). Please forward your CV and short statement to Tracy Barnes email@example.com
