University of the West of England, Bristol, Department of Nursing and Midwifery, in Partnership with University of Bath, is seeking to appoint an external examiner for a Non-Medical Prescribing (Independent and/or Supplementary) module within our CPD provision.

This module is delivered across the South West area from Cornwall to Gloucester, to Pharmacists, Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health professionals. This position is for an examiner for Pharmacists only that are undertaking this module. They will work in collaboration with the external examiner already appointed for Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professions. This module is approved by the GPhC, HCPC and NMC. All modules are delivered at Level 6 and 7 (3 and M), although only 7 (M) will be accessed by pharmacists. This module can be taken as part of a programme or individually as standalone.

Essential Criteria

  • GPhC currently registered independent prescriber
  •  Masters level qualification

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of delivering a non-medical prescribing programme to pharmacists and to a multi-professional audience
  • Previous experience as an external examiner

All appointments are subject to meeting the University’s criteria for the appointment of external examiners.

Tenure: 4 years from September 2016

Field Boards: currently February, June, July and November. We expect External Examiners would be able to attend at least 2 out of 4 boards.
