External Examiner required for the MA/PgDip in Counselling and Psychotherapy and the final year of our outgoing 3 year BACP accredited DipHE Counselling and Psychotherapy programme (ending 2018) at the University of Cumbria (Lancaster). The Dip HE programme is also currently run as a franchise by Northumberland College, with two cohorts currently progressing through the programme.

We are looking to appoint an external examiner for the above programmes commencing in September 2017. We would welcome applications from academics within the counselling and psychotherapy field especially lecturer/practitioners with experience of person-centred/humanistic practice. Registration or accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) would be an advantage.

This professional training programme is delivered face-to-face on a part-time basis over 2/3 years and attracts students from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds. Core modules offer a range of academic and experiential opportunities for students to develop competence within psychotherapeutic practice and include ethical and reflective practice, counselling theory, working with attachment and adversity and understanding therapeutic diversity.

Please note that we are unable to accept applications from you if:

  • You are a current external examiner within the University of Cumbria or have been in the previous four years if you have served a four year term with us previously
  • You are currently professionally involved with members of the programme team
  • You have been employed within the previous five years by the University, or its predecessor St. Martin’s College, or at one of its associate institutions.
