Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh is seeking an experienced external examiner for a suite of modules which make up the continuing professional practice development framework delivered by our local health board provider. The purpose of the framework is to provide accredited learning opportunities for current health and social care practitioners to develop their professional and academic knowledge and skills.
The majority of modules are delivered at degree level (SCQF level 9) although some are also offered at masters level (SCQF Level 11), they range from 10 – 45 credits and include the following hospital and community based topics;
Minor injuries
Acute illness
Asthma management
COPD and spirometry
Community development and health
Heart manual and heart facilitators’ courses
Management of acute coronary syndrome
Management of specific cardiac conditions
Management of long term cardiac conditions
Diabetes management
Care and management of people with cancer
Palliative care
Initial preparation for general practice nursing
Epilepsy management

The framework has up to 150 students per year and is open to nurses, allied health professionals, social care and voluntary sector workers. The external examiner should be a registered nurse with experience of post registration education.
There are two Exam Boards each year and the external examiner is expected to attend at least one of these.
