The College of Human and Health Sciences is seeking an external examiner for the HE Certificate in Maternity Care. This innovative, level 4 programme offers entry into HE for non-traditional students interested in a career in maternity care, including those interested in working as a Maternity Support Worker or as a Doula. The programme runs full time and part time, and includes four core modules covering key dimensions of maternity care, and option modules focusing either on hospital-based care or on holistic, independent maternity care. We include a strong focus on enhancing the physiology of childbearing, promoting autonomy, and on self-development.
We are seeking a suitably experienced individual with an interest in women’s health, women’s studies, maternity care and family wellbeing. The appointment will commence in September 2016 for an initial four year period.
The successful applicant will be asked to attend one examination board per year and submit an annual report following this.
Essential Criteria: Experience of delivering relevant programmes at HE level
Desirable Criteria: Previous experience as an external examiner
Date of appointment: September 2016 – September 2020
