An External Examiner (EE) is required for the three-year BSc (Hons) Pre-Registration Midwifery programme at Canterbury Christ Church University. The programme leads to the students becoming eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as registered midwives. This position therefore requires the EE to have the appropriate academic experience, be qualified as a midwife and have current registration with the NMC.
Our single, annual student intake is around 78-80 with the students being split across our two campus sites in Canterbury and Chatham. The current curriculum was approved from September 2017 and we will be working towards revalidation from September 2021 in light of the new NMC midwifery pre-registration standards. Workload is shared with a second External Examiner.
The appointment is subject to meeting the University’s criteria for the appointment of external examiners. It will be for 4 years from 2020 and the commitment required is as follows:
- To review of a range of coursework throughout the year
- To engage in communication with the programme team
- To attend a selection of module and progression exam boards throughout the academic year
- To compile and submit an annual external examiner report.
