We are seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the BSc Nursing Science programme based in the School of Nursing. This programme includes three pathways (Generic, Global Health and Nursing Practice in the UK), that serve a range of markets and typically offer a ‘top-up to degree’ award for nursing students and/or overseas licensed nurses. The external examiner would also be responsible for reviewing the post graduate pathway of ‘Nursing practice in the UK’. These programmes are not professionally regulated.
The appointment will be from September 2021 for four years and the commitment required is as follows:
- To review a range of assessments throughout the year.
- To attend one Board of Examiner’s meeting each year and to submit an annual external examiner report.
- To engage in communication with the programme team when required.
- To carry out at least one virtual or face-to-face meeting with students each academic year to identify examples of best practice and areas of the programme that could be further developed.
The external examiner must be a registered nurse, who holds live registration with the NMC. Experience of teaching and assessment in Higher Education at degree and post graduate level is essential. Previous experience as an external examiner and working with international students are desirable. All appointments are subject to the candidate meeting Ulster University’s criteria for appointment. Fees and expenses are payable in line with the University policy.
