The Faculty of Education Health and Sciences at the University of Derby, is looking to appoint an External Examiner for the following programmes

BSc (Hons) Nursing (Mental Health Field)
Advanced Diploma Nursing Studies (Mental Health)

An external examiner is required to support both the BSc Nursing Mental Health and Advanced Diploma in Nursing Studies (ADNS) Mental Health programme. We hope you will join us in our work and help us ensure and maintain the quality and standards of our innovative pre-registration nursing programmes.

The period of tenure is for a four year period commencing in this current academic year 2013/2014. This position does require the external examiner to have the appropriate experience, be qualified as a Mental Health Nurse and have a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

As an external examiner you will have responsibility for the external moderation of assessments and portfolios as well as supporting the relevant module teams with their planned assessment strategy. The commitment will require attendance at the relevant examinations boards, a yearly visit to the practice placement area and the compilation of an annual External Examiners’ Monitoring Report. You will be invited to attend an induction day where you can view the facilities and discuss current assessment practices with the examinations staff. There will also be an opportunity for you to meet the programme, stage and module leads. E-submission is in place.

With regards to pre-registration nursing programmes the BSc Nursing Mental Health field of practice commences September 2012 and ADNS Mental Heath closes August 2014
