Birmingham City University is seeking to appoint a Subject External Examiner for the BSc (Hons) Nursing course. This programme is based within the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Health, Education and Life Sciences. The position does require the external examiner to have a current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council for any field of nursing, which will be checked upon appointment and annually thereafter.
The appointment will commence from September 2018 and the tenure of appointment is for a period of four years. All External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University Academic Board.
We are looking for External Examiners to cover the following programmes/modules:
The BSc (Hons) Nursing programme
- NUR4021 Professional Values and academic skills
- NUR4024 Nursing Practice 1 Adult field
These are both level 4 first year modules
Please note that External Examiners are required to engage with assessment of both theory and practice elements of the programme where relevant. Ideally, External Examiners will be able to examine across both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Previous experience as an External Examiner is not necessary as the University is able to provide mentorship to the successful applicants

Our standard fee for External Examiners is £450 per academic year. We also offer an additional fee for visits made to BCU for purposes other than to attend exam boards.
