The Department of Human Sciences and Public Health is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for its 3 year BSc (Hons) Pre-registration Midwifery programme. Applications from suitably qualified academics, preferably with some experience in pre-registration midwifery education at masters’ level will be considered.
This is a full time programme with around 80 students per year divided between our campuses in Portsmouth and Bournemouth. There are currently two intakes a year (September in Bournemouth and February in Portsmouth). From September 2018, the February intake will cease and there will be a September intake on both sites.
The programme is currently undergoing development as part of a Faculty-wide revalidation and the new programme is planned to start in September 2019. This programme will include provision for an MSc, Pre-registration midwifery.
The post will commence in October 2018 with a four year tenure. The role holder will work with one other experienced external examiner and will be responsible for reviewing level 5, 6 and 7 units. Written assessments are submitted electronically via Turnitin. External examiners will use the online moderating process and user guides and support will be available to help with this. Responsibilities also involve completion of an annual monitoring report and attendance at the relevant Assessment Boards (held in July and December at our Lansdowne Campus in Bournemouth town centre). Briefing seminars are held for new external examiners to introduce them to the role.
