The University of Bedfordshire, Faculty of Health and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint an external examiner to the 3 year Midwifery BSc Honours Degree.

This is a full-time course which extends over a period of three academic years. It adopts a 50% in practice and 50% in university approach, with integrated and strong links with practice partners across five local Trusts. The course runs yearly with an October start with approximately 75-80 students in each intake.

We are keen to recruit someone who has either expertise or experience of delivering such a course. Whilst external examiner experience is desirable, we also welcome expressions of interest from individuals new to this role. The successful candidate will be offered an induction programme and will be supported throughout the duration of their tenure.

You will be asked to attend approximately 3 academic boards per year, usually in the Luton campus. You will also be invited to observe practical assessments (such as OSCEs) and visit students within practice areas across all five Trusts. The specific remit includes review of units at academic levels 4, 5 and 6 contributing to the above award.

The term of office for the successful candidate will be for a period of 4 years from September 2019.

Please note that all External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University’s External Examiner Committee.

For expressions of interest please send a current CV by 15th March 2019 to: Carla Ball Course coordinator.
