The University of Bedfordshire, Faculty of Health and Social Sciences wishes to appoint an external examiner to the Paramedic Science course. This full-time course is delivered over three academic years. It adopts a work-integrated approach to learning which facilitates the application of theoretical learning within the workplace.

Students experience a blended approach between practice and work-based learning and facilitated lectures. The course runs yearly with approximately 25 students in each intake.

We are keen to recruit someone who has either expertise in work-based learning or experience of delivering such a course. Whilst external examiner experience is desirable, we also welcome expressions of interest from individuals new to this role. The successful candidate will be offered an induction programme and will be supported throughout the duration of their tenure.

You will be asked to attend approximately 3 academic boards per year, and you will also be invited to observe practical assessments (such as OSCEs); either through physical visits or via video recording. The specific remit includes the review of units at academic levels 4, 5 and 6 contributing to the above award.

Pivotal to this role is a desire to share and influence best-practice by engaging in professional and academic discussions with the course coordinator to ensure that the highest standards are maintained on the course.

The term of office for the successful candidate will be for a period of 4 years from September 2019.

For expressions of interest please send a current CV by 15th March 2019 to: Allan Sunderland, Course Coordinator
