The Department of Applied Health & Social Sciences from the University of Worcester is seeking External Examiners for BSc (Hons) Health Sciences, a top-up degree programme for Nurses and Allied Health Professionals undertaken on a full or part time basis. Apart from the three mandatory modules there are a wide range of optional modules to allow students to achieve a relevant degree pathway to suit their area of practice; they can also be undertaken standalone modules for continued professional development. This means that not all the modules run each semester or academic year, but when appropriate numbers of students apply.

We are seeking an External Examiner from December 2018 for several of the optional clinically focused modules with the Health Sciences Programme. These include such modules as The Assessment and Management of Leg Ulcers, Evidence-based Palliative and End of Life Care – Principles and Practice and Care of a Person with Dementia in the Community Setting, which run dependent on demand.

The University of Worcester offers support for external examiners and a full induction day. Further support is also provided by the Programme Leader and module team. The University normally expects external examiners to attend a minimum of one examination board per year.

Applicants are advised that the University applies the following criteria to external examiners:

  • The area of expertise of external examiners is within the area of assessment undertaken;
  • Applicants should have recently been employed (or are still employed) within a university appointment;
  • Must not have been a University of Worcester examiner within the last five years;
  • Will have a recognised Healthcare qualification, either a Nurse (NMC) registered or Allied Health Professions will be considered, (HCPC registered). Interested applicants can seek further information or send a CV for consideration to Alison Rushworth, Programme Lead
