The University of Bedfordshire, Faculty of Health and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint an external examiner to the above courses.
The three year degree programme commences in September 2017 and will replace the DipHE programme which is being phased out. We are looking for an external examiner to work with the team and ensure a seamless transition from DipHE to degree. Both programmes adopt a work-integrated approach to learning which facilitates the application of theoretical learning within the workplace. Students attend University in blocks of 6 weeks and engage in work-based learning activities in a healthcare practice setting for the remainder of the time. The course runs yearly with approximately 27 students per intake.
The team are very committed to delivering high standards of teaching to student ODPs and are keen to recruit an external with HCPC registration and Operating Department Practice experience. Whilst external examiner experience is desirable, we welcome expressions of interest from individuals new to this role. The successful candidate will be offered an induction programme and will be supported throughout the duration of their tenure.
You will be asked to attend 3 academic boards per year and invited to observe practical assessments (such as OSCEs) and visit students within practice areas.
The term of office for the successful candidate will be for a period of 4 years from September 2017. For expressions of interest please send a current CV by 30th April 2017 to:
