The School of Health & Social Care at the University of Essex is seeking to appoint an external examiner for our undergraduate programme in Adult Nursing (pre-registration). We are looking to appoint an external examiner to the following programmes and modules:
BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing (pre-registration) (2020 Curriculum Year 2)
– HS186 Advocacy, Activism and Resistance (Y2)
– HS187 Person Centred Care 2 (Y2)
– HS188 Relationship Based Practice (Y2)
– HS189 The Therapeutic Practitioner (Y2)
BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing (pre-registration) (2015 Curriculum Year 3)
– HS515 To Do No Harm (Y3)
– HS516 Leadership and Management (Y3)
– HS517 Research Activity (Y3)
– HS518 Practice Module
The 2015 curriculum will be discontinued in 2022. From 2022-2023 the following modules will also be added:
BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing (pre-registration) (2020 Curriculum Year 3)
– HS195 Participatory Research for Service Improvement (Y3)
– HS196 Person Centred Care 3 (AN) (Y3)
– HS197 Supervising Learning in Clinical Practice (Y3)
– HS198 The Autonomous Practitioner (AN) (Y3)
We would like to appoint an External Examiner who can enhance the quality of teaching and learning within the School and who is experienced in delivering health professions’ education or designing health professions’ curricula. Whilst applications from experienced External Examiners are preferred, we will consider academics with appropriate educational and professional experience.
The appointment will be for four years from October 2021 and the commitment required is as follows:
• To attend one examination Board per year (Boards are held in September)
• To submit the annual External Examiner’s Report.
• To review coursework throughout the year and provide constructive comments
• Engage with the programme team in the continuous development of the programmes
