External Examiner – BA (Hons) & MA Social Work

Opening Date:
10 Sep 2014
Closing Date:
10 Oct 2014
Salary Range:

We are seeking a second external examiner for our 3 year pre-registration undergraduate and 2 year pre-registration postgraduate social work programmes. These are full time programmes with target intakes of 43 and 20 respectively.

The appointment will usually be for a 4 year term and will commence from academic year 2014-2015. The appointment is subject to approval by the University Faculty Taught Student Education Committee.

The University requires external examiners to:

i) be registered with the HCPC
ii) hold a higher degree at Masters level.

Preference will be given to candidates with previous external examiner experience and a record of publishing and scholarly activity but this does not exclude other candidates applying.

The external examiner will be required to attend one of the School’s Progression and Award Boards either in July for the undergraduate programme or December for the postgraduate programme.

The School uses GradeMark to mark most assignments and for these the external examiner will be required to view students’ work and markers’ comments on-line.
