The School of Nursing and Midwifery at Staffordshire University is seeking to appoint an external examiner to ensure the quality of our undergraduate pre-registration adult nursing course in the delivery of both theory and practice. The role of our external examiners is highly valued by both academic and clinical partners.
If you wish to join our team of external examiners we would expect them to have an extensive understanding of the NMC pre-registration nursing standards and are responsible for delivery of pre-registration programmes or modules in their own institution. Applicants must hold current NMC registration in the adult field and hold a recorded teaching qualification with the NMC.
Intakes: We currently run our pre-registration adult nursing programme in September and March each year
Venue for delivery: The BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing programme is delivered at our Stafford and Shrewsbury University sites and across placement partners in Staffordshire and Shropshire.
Tenure: 4 years
Assessment Boards: Assessment Board dates will be confirmed upon appointment. We expect you would be able to attend at least 3 of these per year. In addition we expect that during your visits to the University you would meet with Mentors/Students and visit clinical placement and examine our OSCE and Viva Voce processes.
Award and Progression boards: You will also have responsibility for the award and will be expected to attend the award boards during the year. The EE is required to submit an annual report following which payment is made.
Please submit a CV and covering letter to S.J.Thornton@staffs.ac.uk
All appointments are subject to meeting the University’s criteria for the appointment of EEs.
