University of the West of England, Bristol, Faculty of Health & Applied Sciences, is seeking to appoint external examiners to modules and programmes within its Pre-reg Nursing programme:

Reference PR03 /16 Mental Health

The successful applicant would be appointed with effect from Sept 2017 for a term of 4 years. Experience as an external examiner is preferred but applications will be accepted from individuals new to the examining role who are responsible for delivery of pre-reg programmes or modules in their own institution. A modified curriculum will be in place from Sept 2017 and the field external examiner will be responsible for Uni professional modules in both the 2017 and 2013 curriculum.

Essential criteria

  • Current NMC registration in the appropriate field – Mental Health
  • Experience of delivery and organisation of pre-reg modules and programmes
  • Educated to Masters level

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of utilising grading in practice

Appointments are subject to meeting the University’s criteria for the appointment of external examiners.

We are unable to accept applications from the following universities, St Georges and Kingston, South Wales or Cardiff.
Venue: Bristol (Glenside campus)
Number of runs: 1 in September
Cohort: 130
Tenure: 4 years to September 2021
Field (exam/module) Boards – currently Feb, Jun, July & Nov although these are subject to change. We expect External Examiners would attend at least 2 out of 4 boards.

Award and Progression boards: You will also have responsibility for the award and will be expected to attend 1 out of 4 award boards each year. These run in Feb, Jun, July & Nov (subject to change).
