The School provides contemporary and relevant programmes to pre-registered and registered health and social care professionals at various levels, seeking to ensure that all meet the needs of stakeholders and regulators.

The BSc (Hons) Applied Practice (Health and Social Care) is a part-time, post-registration CPD programme centred on preparing students to become expert lifelong learners able to make a positive difference to practice. The programme has two points of entry per academic year. Examination boards are in March and September. There are over 250 students on the programme, with a 120 more on stand-alone modules. The return to practice stand-alone programme is for registered nurses wishing to return to practice after a break.

Due to tenure completion by one of our existing External Examiners we wish to recruit one external examiner to work with the remaining examiner for these programmes. The newly appointed examiner will be responsible for a range of modules within the programmes and will be required to sit on module examination boards.

We welcome applications from subject specialist academics with experience of work-based learning or return to practice. These programmes are due for revalidation during 2020 and the appointed examiner would be expected to participate in that process.

Applications from academics currently registered with the NMC and holding a higher degree qualification is required. A career involving experience as a subject or programme manager is particularly welcome. Experience of external examining is preferred but not essential.
The appointment starts in the academic year 2019-2020 for a four year term.
