The University of Northampton’s School of Health is looking to appoint an external examiner for the BSc (Child Nursing) programme. We currently have 70 students enrolled on the programme and our numbers are increasing each year.
We are a forward thinking and motivated team who work hard to translate contemporary practice into the classroom setting; we have excellent relationships with our practice partners and good levels of student satisfaction.
We incorporate a range of assessment strategies into our programme including case studies, debates and OSCE’s alongside formal examinations.
The appointment would start from October 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment would be for a period of four years.
The external examiner is asked to look at a sample of the assessments and report on:
• the administration of the programme
• the standards and consistency of internal marking
• the standards of student performance
• the extent to which the regulations and processes of the University are correctly applied and adhered to
• whether the academic standards of the programme are appropriate
• examples of good practice identified
You would be asked to attend one examination board per year (usually in September) and submit an annual report following this.
Current NMC registration on the appropriate part of the register
Recordable teaching qualification
Previous experience as an external examiner
Experience of delivering post-registration modules
Any appointment would be subject to meeting the University of Northampton’s criteria for the appointment of external examiners.
