The Division of Nursing in the School of Health Sciences is one of London’s longest-established providers of undergraduate and postgraduate health care education. It has a strong programme of world-leading research in the areas of child health and partnership working with children and their families; mental health care across the life span; people with physical health and long-term conditions; acute and critical care; and care of the older person. The Division works in partnership with service users and carers, alongside health and social care experts and providers, to develop and deliver world-leading and internationally excellent education and research which shapes future nurse leaders.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an outstanding academic in Nursing to develop their academic career and assume a leadership role within the School. As Divisional Lead, the successful candidate will lead and manage the growth and development of a diverse team of academic staff with expertise in both clinical research and practice; and will contribute to the strategic and operational development of the School. The Divisional Lead role will be for three years.
The appointed senior academic will build on their existing research and educational achievements and develop their reputation as a leader in Nursing. They will represent City at national and international events and will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education.
The successful candidate will have a first degree in a relevant discipline, and a postgraduate degree or appropriate and equivalent professional qualification. They will be an experienced academic in Nursing (Adult, Child or Mental Health) and a registered nurse with the Nursing Midwifery Council; and will have extensive experience of delivering high quality education. They will be efficient, methodical and organised. Demonstrable leadership and management experience is also essential.
Appointment at Senior Lecturer level on an Education & Research role profile will require, in addition to the above, a doctoral degree, normally a PhD, and a national or developing international reputation as a recognised authority in the field.
Appointment as Reader will require an international reputation as a recognised authority in Nursing.
Appointment as Associate Professor, will require an international reputation as an educator or practitioner.
