The Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC)] is a unique £14m transformational hub at the heart of Sheffield. It will be the world’s most advanced research and development centre for physical activity and will drive collaboration between higher education, business and the people of the City Region, to fuel improvements to health and wellbeing and increase economic growth.

Sheffield Hallam, which hosts the AWRC, has an exceptional track record for working with and engaging the local community through our research programmes that focus on design, health, technology and education.

As director of the centre you will create an environment in which the best ideas, talent and investment are brought together for the common purpose of co-designing and co-producing new technologies, products, interventions and services that help people move to improve their health and wellbeing.

You will be responsible for:

  • Establishing the centre’s infrastructure and implementing the business plan.
  • Strategic leadership and vision to develop the AWRC in the areas of applied academic research, scholarship, income generation, knowledge exchange and technology transfer, and business development.
  • Contributing to the strategic leadership of the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing, in which the centre is based.

To lead the AWRC we’re looking for a senior leader with an outstanding academic profile in the area of health, sport or technology, excellent business acumen and the ability and personal qualities to manage relationships and work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
