The Institute for Health and Community (IHC) is a multi-disciplinary institute within Plymouth University and acts as a gateway to those undertaking research and innovation in the areas of health, social care and community related disciplines. It promotes and builds the work of University cross-disciplinary research themes with a particular focus on the life-course and key life-course events. Our aim is to develop and extend the national and international reputation for impactful research and related activity.
The IHC is located in the Faculty of Health and Human Sciences and in the 4 years since its establishment has developed and supported a strong portfolio of high quality research.
The University is seeking to appoint a Director to lead the IHC. The Director will be part of the Faculty’s senior leadership team and will be expected to drive forward the Institute’s national and international profile. It is expected that this appointment will be made at Professorial level and therefore the University strongly encourages the successful individual to pursue their own research which should be broadly aligned to University strategic interests.
For an informal discussion on the role please contact Professor Graham Sewell, Associate Dean (Research), firstname.lastname@example.org, 01752 588847.
The role will be for three years initially, with the potential to extend for a further two years, at which point the successful candidate will move to an appropriate substantive post.
Plymouth University is committed to an inclusive culture and respecting diversity, and welcomes applications from all sections of the community and is a Stonewall diversity champion.
The University holds a Bronze Athena SWAN Award which recognises commitment to advancing women’s career in STEMM academia.
