Applications are invited for a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Clinical Oncology. This is a joint appointment between the Hull York Medical School and Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust. Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust are a University teaching hospital affiliated with the Hull York Medical School (HYMS).

This is an exciting time to join the Hull York Medical School. The University of Hull has ambitious plans for research growth: our vision is to be a world leader in well-designed applied health research, and to conduct outstanding research of relevance to our local area. This vision is being enabled by a £28m investment by the University in a new Health Campus development and the establishment of an Institute for Clinical and Applied Health Research. The formation of the Institute is supported by a major investment in academic staff and the establishment of strong methods and support infrastructure, including a new clinical trials unit. We have attracted 14 new academic staff in the last 18 months.

The appointee will be expected to develop their own research programme within the HYMS research strategy and to obtain external funding. They will be expected to provide teaching for the School’s programmes, including the MB BS and postgraduate offerings. The appointee will be an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic medical academic with a strong background in clinical research and a commitment to research, innovative service provision and education.

The NHS base for the post will be in the Queen’s centre for oncology and haematology at Castle Hill Hospital.
