Salary Range:

Hull York Medical School (HYMS) is looking for practicing clinicians who are passionate about educating the doctors of the future as part our MB BS programme.

Clinical Education Tutors are a vital part of Phase I (Years 1 and 2) for HYMS undergraduate students.

As well as an enthusiasm for teaching and developing skills in our students, we are looking for clinicians who will inspire students to achieve their best, both academically and professionally, providing strong role models for their subsequent development.

Tutors are supported with their tutoring and student support roles. There is a robust programme of training, peer support and observation. Training will be given in both PBL facilitation and clinical skills teaching.

Successful applicants will be enthusiastic clinicians who are keen to develop their educational role; many will not already have experience of PBL or higher educational qualifications, but we welcome applications from those who are willing to undertake these.

Applicants will need to commit to 2 fixed sessions per week, for PBL/Clinical Skills facilitation during the Phase 1 academic term and will be based at either the Hull or the York site. We expect tutors to commit to all dates within the academic terms. Tutors are expected to contribute an additional extra half session/week for preparatory work, paid for within the contract. We also expect tutors to be involved in admissions and assessment activities. Corresponding lighter work is required outside academic terms; the overall annualised commitment is 0.2 FTE.
