The Associate Professor/ Head of Department for Post Qualifying Practice is a key appointment within the School of Nursing and Midwifery with responsibility for strategic developments in the planning, design and delivery of Post Qualification Education for Nurses and Midwives
The post holder will be responsible for the academic leadership of the department. Together with managing the design and development of curricula whilst making a significant contribution to the leadership, management and enhancement of teaching and learning strategies, academic standards and leading edge practice. They will also be responsible for developing, enabling and delivering research activities and expanding the school’s income generating activity through working closely with our strategic partners locally, nationally and internationally. A track record in all these areas would be beneficial.
Applicants should have or be working towards a PhD/ Doctorate, plus a post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline, hold a professional registration with NMC. Applicants will also have expertise and experience in Post Qualification Education and CPD activities plus a developing track record of research/scholarly activity with recognition at a national level.
Proven academic leadership in Higher education or practice education, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a clear understanding of the direction of travel required for the development of Post Qualification Nursing and Midwifery education within the School and Faculty is also a requirement of the post holder.
