Edinburgh Napier is one of the largest educators of the health and social care workforce in Scotland; with a significant profile across the wider UK and transnationally. Uniquely, in Scotland, the School now offers educational programmes in midwifery, all four fields of practice in nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and social work.

This is an exciting time for us, as we expand our portfolio into programmes for allied health and social work professions at post-graduate level. This strategic move aims to prepare the next generation of Allied Health and Social Work teams for an integrated future by offering a new approach to programme delivery, to meet the challenges faced by the health and social care sector.

We have recently recruited a new team of academics to support this exciting new development within the areas of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy and are now excited to begin our search for our team of Social Work academics. We are looking for an experienced Social Worker, with a passion for education and practice-led research to join our team as our Associate Professor of Social Work.

This exciting, opportunity offers both the opportunity to significantly raise your profile and the support and autonomy required to lead our team of social workers. You will be involved in delivery of our MSc in Social Work and will work with others across occupational therapy, physiotherapy and nursing to foster an inter-professional approach to educational delivery.

You will have previous experience in pre and post graduate course development, and be passionate about innovation in teaching and research. A professional qualification in Social Work is essential, along with eligibility for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). Ideally we would be looking for candidates with a background in either Criminal Justice, Child Protection or Adult Protection.
