Opening Date:

Closing Date:
27 Sep 2020
Salary Range:

This is an hourly paid role. Actual hours and days will be described in a schedule of work.

The Discipline of Pre-Qualifying Healthcare are seeking Associate Lecturers in Operating Department Practice who will contribute to the teaching and delivery of our online Operating Department Practitioner degree apprenticeship.

The post holders will be expected to participate on an ad-hoc basis in online teaching. There are also opportunities to participate in face to face teaching on campus during Skills Weeks. These posts are remote/home-based, and you can combine this work with other roles you have.

You will be an Operating Department Practitioner or Registered Nurse with relative perioperative experience and qualifications. You will be creative and innovative and be keen to develop and deliver the best experience for our students. It is extremely important that our successful candidates not only understand the student experience but that they genuinely enjoy making a positive impact on our students both in and out of classes. The programme will be delivered as an apprenticeship, so experience or interest in this area would be an advantage.

Associate lecturers involved in teaching and assessing will be responsible for providing academic guidance and support for learners studying online. Associate Lecturers will be expected to be academically competent to teach, facilitate and assess the learning of students at the appropriate level, create a supportive learning environment and promote and engage in a ‘community of practice’ within the learners group. The post holders will be expected to work closely with colleagues in the on-campus programme team to ensure a high quality learning experience for all learners.
