The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences has an enviable reputation for the quality of its teaching and research. Following the promotion of the current Associate Dean Research and Knowledge Exchange (ADRKE) to Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC) Research and Global Partnerships, we are seeking an exceptional individual to lead and continue to develop our research strategy. The Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange is a member of the Faculty Executive Team, which comprises three Faculty Associate Deans (Student Experience, Strategy and Development being the other two), five Heads of Department, Faculty Head of Finance and Business Planning and Faculty Head of Administration. The post holder has overall responsibility for leadership and management of all aspects of the Faculty’s Research and Knowledge Exchange activity. The post reports to the PVC/Dean of Faculty and works closely with the PVC Research and Global Partnerships as well as forming a cross-university peer group with the ADRKE’s from the other three faculties.

The successful candidate will:
– be an experienced academic leader with the ability to lead and influence academics/researchers from a wide range of disciplines and at varying levels of development
– have a track record of task management of academic staff and of successfully translating strategy into action with an ability to link elements of research activities to knowledge exchange and innovation
– have an international level reputation in research with a ‘REF returnable’ profile, significant experience of research student supervision and subject expertise related to one or more of the disciplines in the faculty
– have a robust approach to financial management, along with the ability to identify and exploit new research activities and income streams.
