Adult Nursing External Examiner

The successful applicant would be appointed from September/October 2015 for a term of four years. Experience as an external examiner is preferred but applications will be accepted from individuals new to the examining role who are responsible for delivery of pre-registration programmes or modules in their own institution. For adult nursing we have additional external examiners to support the large cohort.

Essential criteria: Applicants must hold current NMC registration in the appropriate field for which they are applying and hold a recorded teaching qualification with the NMC.

Desirable criteria: We operate on-line submission, marking and feedback of assignments. Experience of Turn-it-in and Grade mark would be desirable. Experience of teaching/assessment at level 7 (postgraduate) would also be desirable.

All appointments are subject to meeting the University’s criteria for the appointment of external examiners.

We are unable to accept applications from the Universities of Hertfordshire, LSBU, Sheffield Hallam, Oxford Brookes, Central Lancashire, Plymouth, Buckinghamshire New Uni, Middlesex, Brighton and Chester.

Number of runs per year: 1

Contributes to: BSc (Hons) Nursing/Registered Nurse (Adult, Child, Mental Health) and PgDip Nursing/Registered Nurse (Adult, Child, Mental health) with focus on Adult and generic modules.

Tenure: 4 years to September 2019

Field (exam/module) Boards: Dates will be confirmed upon appointment. We expect External Examiners to be able to attend at least 2 per year and attend practice to meet with mentors/students once per year.

Award & Progression Boards: You will also have responsibility for the award and will be expected to attend the award boards each year.
