The University of Bradford are seeking to appoint four External Examiners in Adult (2), Child(1) and Mental Health Nursing (1) for the academic session commencing September 2019 for a period of 4 years. The programme jointly recruits a total of around 250 students across Adult, Mental Health and Child fields annually on the City Campus and 30 adult nursing students at Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust, based in Dewsbury. It is expected that the two adult external examiners will work collaboratively to ensure comparability of award across the two delivery locations.

You should have appropriate expertise/experience and a background in the relevant field of nursing, registration on the appropriate part of the NMC register and evidence of scholarly activity. The applicant should be able to undertake a role in the assurance of academic standards in Higher Education and should be aware of modern developments in the design and delivery of the flexible curriculum.

You should not hold more than one other UK Higher Education External Examiner post at the start of the contract and be qualified to at least the level of the programme to be examined.

External Examiners’ fees for taught programmes are calculated according to a formula that takes into account both programme and module responsibilities, the fees for these appointments would vary due to the student number on each of the fields. An approximate fee based on current modules and student numbers is available on request.
