England (event may be held remotely so no requirement for travel) Email: Conleth Kelly; C.J.Kelly@ljmu.ac.uk/ Caroline Boyle; C.M.Boyle@ljmu.ac.uk Urgently Required Liverpool John Moores University are seeking an academic with experience of delivering the SPQ District Nursing and Community Children’s Nursing to act as an external reviewer for the Post Graduate Diploma in Specialist Community Nursing (District Nursing/Community Children’s Nursing) NMC approval event in May 2024. As part of this process the external reviewer will be required to review the validation documents and provide a written response prior to event. The validation event will be held online. We are still awaiting a confirmed date from the NMC but we have requested the following:
  • 8th May
  • 14th May
  • 21st May
To preserve the integrity of the process, External Reviewer nominees should not:
  • Be a current External Examiners for the University;
  • Have been employed within the previous five years at the University (including as an External Examiner);
  • Have any other current or recent connection with QMU that might be considered a conflict of interest

External Examiner – MSci Nurse Paramedic Programme (Paramedic)

Edge Hill University, Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine is seeking to engage an External Examiner or examiners for the following Programme with immediate effect.

  • Programme(s): MSci Nurse Paramedic

You must have an understanding of the NMC standards for pre-registration nursing (Adult) and the Education standards (HCPC) and HCPC proficiencies for Paramedics, have at least 2 years experience in a HEI setting and hold a master's degree. External Examiners are typically placed on the Edge Hill University External Examiners Register for a period of four years. Principle duties normally include:
  • Visit the University when possible and moderate assessed coursework and examination scripts, attend Module Assessment Boards and Award Boards and produce an Annual Report (attendance can be online where applicable)
  • Review and approve examination papers that contribute to a student’s final award, and any other assessment material as agreed
  • External Examiners are also invited to engage with students in practice
  • They will have excellent underpinning knowledge of the Standards for Nurse Education (Adult) NMC requirements and/or the Standards of proficiency for Paramedics (HCPC).
  • Some experience of paramedicine/ critical care would be advantageous but not essential
  • The appointed External Examiner will be required to work collaboratively with other External Examiners to provide the above support for the programme quality standards.

Total fees may vary slightly dependent on the size of the provision covered by an External Examiner. The production and submission of the annual report is paid at a higher rate of £200 for the full 7.5 hours work. All fees are claimed through the claim form/online system when work is completed throughout the academic year, please liaise with the Academic Quality Officer to ensure you are set up on the system.
