We are seeking to appoint a Subject External Examiner for the BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy programme. This programme is based within the School of Health Professions, Faculty of Health, Medicine, Dentistry and Human Sciences. It is a full time 3-year undergraduate programme which on successful completion leads to eligibility to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This position does require the external examiner to be an Occupational Therapist, have a recordable teaching qualification and a current registration with the HCPC. The appointment will be until the 31 October 2024 and the commitment required is as follows: • To review a range of coursework throughout the year • To attend an assessment panel per year and the submission of an annual external examiner report. • To engage in communication with the programme team • To carry out at least one interim engagement per year (which may take the form of a ‘virtual’ visit by video conference/Skype in recognition of the logistical difficulties presented by Plymouth’s geographical location) and at least one face to face visit during the term of office to obtain feedback from staff and students on assessment in practice and to strengthen their engagement with the ongoing teaching and learning process. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced academic or clinical staff. Some experience of external examining is desirable, although not essential. You should have recent expertise in a range of radiographic areas including Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computed Tomography. The University of Bedfordshire, Faculty of Health and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint an external examiner to the BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy course. This is a brand new programme which has been developed with inter-professional working at its heart with students studying alongside their Occupational Therapy colleagues. The curriculum has been developed within a biopsychosocial framework following a social constructive learning model. Students have opportunities to develop a critical approach to their knowledge, skills and clinical practice along a spiral approach to learning. Alongside inter-professional learning, evidence based learning and reflective practice are fundamental aspects of the course. This is a 3 year full-time programme that runs yearly with 15-20 students. We are keen to recruit someone who has experience of delivering a Pre-registration Physiotherapy course. Whilst external examiner experience is desirable, we also welcome expressions of interest from individuals new to this role. The successful candidate will be offered an induction programme and will be supported throughout the duration of their tenure. You will be asked to attend approximately 3 academic boards per year. You will also be invited to observe practical assessments and visit students within practice areas. The specific remit includes review of units at academic levels 4, 5 and 6 contributing to the above award. The term of office for the successful candidate will be for a period of 4 years from September 2019. External Examiner – Advanced Mental Health Practice (AMHP)

We are looking to appoint an External Examiner for our PG Dip / MA Advanced Mental Health Practice programme. The principle aim of the programme is to prepare students for the role of the Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 1983 (Amended 2007). The role of the Best Interest Assessor (BIA) under the Mental Capacity Act is also currently incorporated into the programme. The programme is delivered in close partnership with a number of employing agencies across the South of England and is delivered at a number of different locations. The programme is approved by Social Work England and is mapped directly to the AMHP professional requirements. The successful External Examiner will need to be appropriately experienced and registered and will need to have the necessary expertise in terms of the professional role. You will also need to meet Bournemouth University External Examiner appointment regulations, preferably having previous External Examiner experience. Appointments are normally made for a four year period.
