The BN with Honours is a four year programme leading to registration as an Adult Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). This is the first year of a new curriculum, validated by the NMC in the spring of 2020. The new programme prepares students for the evolving healthcare landscape and equips them with the knowledge and skills required to work in a range of healthcare environments and with a variety of different populations. Critical thinking, teamwork, innovation and interdisciplinary are key elements of courses across the four years as students engage with a spiral curriculum to develop over the course of the programme. This programme will commence in September 2021. The Nursing Studies team are seeking to appoint two External Examiners to join our existing Examiner from January 2021. The appointment would be for a three to five year period of tenure. Appointed Examiners would be required to review work from a range of courses over the BN programme and review undergraduate dissertations. In addition, they will be asked to review records from practice learning experiences, assessor comments and progression recommendations. The same External Examining team review student work for the BA Health Studies with Honours programme where student have decided to withdraw from the clinical component of the BN programme. For the MN programme, as well as reviewing student assessments and practice learning, the external examiner would be involved in the approval of applicants’ claims for RPL of practice and theory hours into the programme as part of the admissions process. The examiner must possess an MSc as a minimum and preferably a doctorate, must have completed a postgraduate qualification in education and must have experience of working on NMC regulated programmes. Due to an unexpected resignation, we are seeking a replacement external examiner from the academic year 2020/21 for the Cardiac Care pathway in the BSc (Hons) Clinical Practice/Graduate and Post Graduate Certificate Clinical Practice courses. The University of Brighton offers extensive support for external examiners and holds workshops annually. Further support is also provided by the course leads and the Continuing and Postgraduate Education Academic Programme lead. The University normally expects external examiners to attend a minimum of one examination board per year. The University of Derby Online Learning Department (UDOL) is looking to appoint an External Examiner for the BSc (Hons) Integrative Health and Social Care (top-up) (Level 6) and the Certificate of Credit in Health and Social Care Studies (Level 5, one module). Information about both of these programmes can be found via the following links: The successful candidate will be responsible for the external moderation for the BSc programme and the 20 credits module for the Certificate of Credit award. Applicants should have subject expertise in health and social care and preferably knowledge of online learning or an interest in developing an expertise in examining online modules. The candidate should also be currently teaching in this subject area and have had curriculum design/development experience relating to higher academic level programmes. The students are both UK and international based. All are combining their studies with work, as this is an entry requirement and they have rich and varied practice experience. Principle duties will include:

Our assessment panels are usually held on the Chelmsford campus but have been undertaken virtually during the pandemic.
