The Council of Deans of Health welcomes today’s publication of a workforce strategy for adult social care which sets out recommendations to address the challenges this vital sector faces.
Our members already do much to educate the future workforce of the social care sector but there is always more that can be done. The specific recommendation for the Council in promoting adult social care in higher education is one we will take forward with our members and the wider sector, building on our work so far to progress this important route for nursing and nursing associate students.
Similarly, we stand ready to work with DHSC and other partners to look at the pay, conditions and placement opportunities available to drive interest in social care settings as a career opportunity of choice for registered healthcare professionals.
