During Race Equity Month 2021, we opened application for our new Fellowship Scheme. The Scheme aims to support individuals currently underrepresented within our membership and who are enthusiastic about progressing their careers in academia and research.
Not being sure what to expect and with it being a brand new scheme, the Council hoped to receive 20-30 applications for 10 places. Instead it received more than 120 applications, evidencing a demand and enthusiasm for such opportunities.
One year on, this CoDHcast speaks to three of the Fellows who have been part of the first cohort of Fellows. At the time of recording, Fellows had been on the Scheme for less than ten months. The CoDHcast explores their highlights of the Scheme so far and what they’ve achieved so far as a result. We are also joined by Letesia Gibson who has developed and delivered training for Fellows.
The CoDHcast is facilitated by Professor Paula Kersten, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean, Canterbury Christ Church University who has been a mentor for one of the Fellows on the Scheme. Speakers include:
- Audley Graham, Senior Lecturer, London South Bank University
- Dao Tunprasert, Principal Lecturer, University of Brighton
- Miranda Leach, Lecturer in Midwifery, City, University of London
- Letesia Gibson, Founder and Programme Leader, New Ways
