The Council of Deans of Health has welcomed the announcement today by the Health Minister Chris Skidmore of an additional £210 million pounds for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals in 2020-21.
Dr Katerina Kolyva, Executive Director of the Council, said:
“The Council was the first to highlight the shortfall in CPD funding caused by previous cuts in 2016 and we have consistently called for a reversal of these cuts. We very much welcome today’s announcement which recognises the importance of investing in the current workforce to support service quality and retention of healthcare professionals in the NHS. We hope the Government continues to meet this commitment in future years”.
