Council elects new Vice-Chair

The Council of Deans of Health has announced the election of Professor Jan Draper, Interim Head of School for Health, Wellbeing and Social Care at The Open University, as its new Vice-Chair.

Professor Draper previously served two terms on the Council’s Executive and for the last two years has chaired the Council’s Future Nurse Advisory Group.

Speaking after her election, Professor Draper said:

“I’m delighted and honoured to have been elected by the Council’s members. I look forward to working with the new Chair and colleagues on the Council’s Executive as we seek to influence the health and higher education agendas across the four nations and strengthen education and research for nursing, midwifery and the allied health professions.”

Council Chair-Elect, Professor Brian Webster-Henderson said:

“Having worked with Jan previously on the Council’s Executive, I believe she will be an excellent Vice Chair. She has a long history with the Council and great experience of working with members and stakeholders across the UK.”

    I still recall her running the child health unit in the BSc Nursing degree at Leeds polytechnic many moons ago
