Council of Deans of Health announces new Executive Director

The Council of Deans of Health, which represents UK university faculties engaged in education and research for nursing, midwifery and the allied health professions, has announced the appointment of Dr Katerina Kolyva as its new Executive Director.

Dr Kolyva, who will take up post on 7 December 2016, has worked for the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) where she was Director of Continued Practice and brings extensive experience of EU funding and regulation, having previously established the European network of nursing regulators and worked for the European Commission. She has an MA in International Relations as well as a PhD in European Studies.

Professor Dame Jessica Corner, Chair of the Council of Deans of Health, said:

‘I am delighted that the Council has been able to appoint Katerina as Executive Director. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise not just from her roles at the NMC, but also from her work in Europe. I look forward very much to working with her as the Council navigates the challenges ahead for health higher education’.

Dr Kolyva said:

‘I am very excited by the opportunity to lead the Council in the next phase of its development and look forward to working with members across the home nations to ensure the sector has an effective voice’.
